Olympic men's semifinal hockey: U.S. 6 Finland 0 after two periods

FIRST PERIOD

Ryan Malone gives the United States an early lead, scoring unassisted at 02:04 after Finish goalie Mikka Kiprusoff makes a terrible giveaway.

Zach Parise extends the lead to 2-0 with a power play goal at 06:22.

Erik Johnson makes it 3-0 for the Americans on another power play goal at 08:36, and less than two minutes later Patrick Kane made it 4-0 U.S., scoring on a goal-mouth scramble.

Kiprusoff is replace in net by Niklas Backstrom, but the rout continues when Patrick Kane scores his second of the period at 12:31 to make it 5-0. Another Finish giveaway in their own end results in a Paul Stastny goal, making it 6-0.

The Finns begin showing some signs of life after being held to two shots through the first 15 minutes, and went on the power play in the dying seconds of the period but they couldn't beat U.S. goalie Ryan Miller.

SECOND PERIOD

The Finnish side starts the period on the power play but come away empty. No goals are scored by either side in the period.
